  • UT Dallas was established in 1969 by Cecil Green, J. Erik Jonsson and Eugene McDermott, the founders of Texas Instruments, who envisioned a university that would offer truly innovative teaching and research.

  • UT Dallas has grown from an enrollment of 45 graduate students in 1970 to a total approaching 15,000 graduate and undergraduate students in 2007-08.

  • Consumers Digest has listed UT Dallas among the top 50 best values at public colleges and universities in the United States.

  • Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine has listed UT Dallas in its "100 Best Values in Public Colleges".

  • The School of Management is UT Dallas' largest school with an enrollment of almost 5,000 students.

  • SOM offers:

    • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting and Information Management, and Finance. Total undergraduate enrollments approach 2,400 students.

    • Masters degrees: Master of Business Administration (MBA). Master of Science degrees in Management and Administrative Science, Accounting and Information Management, Information Technology and Management; Healthacare Management and a Master of Arts in International Management. Total masters-level enrollments of about 2,200 students.

    • Four executive-level MBAs, including two distance learning programs. Total executive degree program enrollments approach 400 students.

    • A Ph.D. degree with a full complement of majors. In fall 2007 the program enrolled about 100 students .

    • Non-degree certificate programs on a variety of topics.

  • SOM is recognized nationally and internationally for both its faculty research and its academic programs.

    • Based on the faculty's published works in 24 leading journals during the last four years, the school ranks in the top 20 in research productivity.

    • Based on publications in a broader set of 40 journals, Financial Times ranks the research productivity of the faculty 21st worldwide.

    • Financial Times ranks our Executive MBA program No. 1 in Texas and tied with Georgetown University for No. 10 in the nation among U.S.-based programs.

    • Three of SOM's online MBA programs–Global MBA Online, Global Leadership Executive MBA (GLEMBA), and Project Management–have been listed by Financial Times among the top 25 distance learning MBA providers in the world.

    • Forbes Magazine has listed the GLEMBA Program as one of the "Best of the Web" higher education programs.
