Center for Practice and Research in Software Management
The Center for Practice and Research in Software Management is housed in the School of Management at the University of Texas at Dallas. Because of the interdisciplinary emphasis of the center's activities, it attracts faculty from several areas of the School of Management, including Accounting and Information Managements, Management Science and Information Systems, Marketing, Organizations, Strategy and International Management and Finance.To fulfill the center's integrated agenda for research and education, members of the center may be drawn also from other areas of the university including Economics, Operations Research and Computer Science, as well as from other universities and institutions.
The center's collaborative efforts are aimed at organizing and facilitating interdisciplinary software management research, integrating software economics, software engineering, information management and management control and developing a unifying framework and establishing software management as a new discipline. The center also collaborates with corporations, industry associations and research institutions. Its collaboration with industry partners includes sponsorship of research projects to tackle important problems facing industry practitioners, as well as providing access to empirical data. Collaboration efforts with other research institutions includes joint research proposals on large-scale projects and sharing information resources and personnel. This enables the center and the university to forge strong industry partnerships and provide a forum to demonstrate thought leadership in the area of software management and economics.
