Students who earn an undergraduate degree in finance will have the skills needed to do thorough and rigorous analysis of financial information. These skills are in high demand across the corporate world and prized in the government and non-profit sectors.
In addition, the Master of Science in Finance degree, which has four areas of concentration, is offered for graduate students who have an interest in such areas as corporate finance, investment banking, venture capital, private equity, commercial banking or insurance. An undergraduate degree in finance or a related area is not required.
The finance area's doctoral program offers students a strong combination of research skills and relevant research seminars. Each year the area sponsors a speaker series to bring researchers from other universities to UT Dallas. The Finance Area offers a variety of elective courses for both the MBA and undergraduate degree programs, providing students with in-depth knowledge of corporate finance and investment, as well as the critical skills required for professional certifications such as the Chartered Financial Analyst and the Certified Financial Planner.
