M.S. in Supply Chain Management:
Program Overview
It is the mission of the M.S. in SCM program to teach fundamental concepts, decision-making paradigms, and real-life practices of supply chain management. A supply chain manager improves operations towards lower costs, faster delivery, higher quality, more sales and mass customization. To help students achieve this ability, the students develop analytical skills, business intuition and acumen. Students are exposed to ideas from business strategy, marketing, risk management, trade-off analysis and economy, as well as tools from probability/statistics, optimization, game theory and information systems. These universal ideas/tools apply, from San Diego to Stuttgart, from Shanghai to Sydney. In addition, students have an opportunity to study negotiation, conflict resolution, leadership and project management. The program aims to develop well-rounded business leaders who can meet and overcome the challenges of supply chains, from planning to execution.
The program is designed and updated by an Industry Advisory Committee that includes representatives from corporations such as Blockbuster, EDS, Fujitsu, i2 Technologies, JC Penney, Lennox, McKesson, Pepsi-Co, Texas Instruments and UPS. Taught by a world-class faculty and backed by the latest technology, the program is based on the genuine needs of a supply chain manager in today's global marketplace.
