Welcome to Spring 2008 UTD SOM Online Courses

Dear Student,

Welcome to the Spring 2008 semester at UTD! Thank you for enrolling in the online courses offered at the School of Management. This email provides you the information to access your online courses. All full term courses and 1st 8-week courses are starting on Monday January 7, 2008 and the 2nd 8-week courses will start on March 3, 2008. Students will be able to access the Spring 2008 online courses only from the above dates.

UTD Global MBA Online program offers the following 17 online courses:

  • Full term courses (Jan. 7 – May 7 ): AIM 6305.0T1, BPS 6310.0G1, ENTP 6370.0G1, FIN 6301.0G1, FIN 6320.0G1, IMS 6310.0G1, IMS 6365.0G1, MECO 6303.0T1, MIS 6326.0G1, MKT 6301.0G1, MKT 6332.0G1, MKT 6336.0G1, OB 6301.0G1, OPRE 6301.0G1, OPRE 6302.0G1

  • First 8-week courses (Jan. 7 – Mar. 1): AIM 6201.0G1

  • Second 8-week courses (Mar. 3 – May 7): AIM 6202.0G2

UTD Accounting Online program offers the following 13 online courses:

  • Full term courses (Jan. 7 – May 7): AIM 6330.0G1, AIM 6332.0G1, AIM 6334.0G12, AIM 6337.0G1, AIM 6343.0G1, AIM 6352.0G1, AIM 6354.0G1, AIM 6370.0G1, AIM6379.0G1.

  • First 8-week courses (Jan. 7 – Mar. 1): AIM 6335.0G1, AIM 6335.0G3

  • Second 8-week courses (Mar. 3 – May 7): AIM 6335.0G2, AIM 6335.0G4

Course Access:

- Courses with section number ‘0G1’ –“0G4” - WebCT Platform:

·To get your login account for WebCT course:

  1. Before you can login to your UTD WebCT course(s), you need a valid UTD NetID and Password (which is assigned to you when you get enrolled at UTD).

  2. If you are a new student, please activate your UTD NetID and Password at: http://netid.utdallas.edu.

·To access your WebCT course:

Please login at http://galaxy.utdallas.edu/ and click “WebCT” link under “Self Service Links”. Alternatively you may also directly go to the WebCT 6 login page: http://webct6.utdallas.edu.

  1. Click "Log in".

  2. On the next screen, please click “Check Browser” button to validate your web browser for WebCT 6. Please see the notes about the Pop-Blockers and Java Security Certificate on the page.

  3. Enter your UTD NetID and Password into the Username and Password fields (case sensitive). Click the "OK" button.

  4. You should see a "My WebCT" page showing a list of all courses that you have enrolled. To enter a course site, click the course title link and you will see the Course Content page.

  5. If you have any problem with your account and cannot login, contact the UTD Help Desk:http://www.utdallas.edu/ir/helpdesk/. You can get live web support at the help desk web site, email assist@utdallas.edu or call 972-883-2911. Please copy us at: som-elearning@utdallas.edu on your email request to the UTD Help Desk so we can be aware of your problem and assist if necessary.

·What to do after entering your WebCT course:

  1. The first page you see when you enter your course is the Course Content page which contains several icons.

  2. Left side Course Menu lists all available tools and items.

  3. Please check out the "Getting Started" information for technical requirements and other important information.

  4. Please thoroughly read the course syllabus and then check all the areas in the course to become familiar with the features and contents of the course.

  5. Please introduce yourself on the course Discussion board.

  6. You can click Help menu on each course page to access help information related to that page or tool.

  7. If you have any technical difficulties or need any assistance within the course site, please email som-elearning@utdallas.edu.

- Course with the section number '0T1' - UT System TeleCampus BlackBoard Platform:

·Students enrolled in AIM 6305.0T1 and MECO 6303.0T1 courses, please go to: http://www.telecampus.utsystem.edu/enrollmentservices/courseaccess.aspx and follow the course access instructions on the page to get into the course site.

·If you need assistance for course login: please contact telecampus@utsystem.edu or 1.888.TEXAS.16. For technical support, please go to technical Support page: http://www.telecampus.utsystem.edu/technicalsupport.aspx.

Textbooks:

Textbooks and materials for all online courses can be ordered online at: http://direct.mbsbooks.com/utd.htm or http://www.offcampusbooks.bkstr.com/. They may also be purchased at the UTD Bookstore and Off-Campus Books Bookstore.

UTD Library Access:

Students can access UTD library electronic resources remotely by logging on to Library Proxy Server with the UTD-ID number. Please check out this UTD library Distance Learning web page http://www.utdallas.edu/library/distlearn/disted.htm for information and the services available to distance learning students.

Proctored Exam Information:

Some online courses require a proctored final examination. Please check out the course syllabus for this requirement. Please review the proctored exam information and procedures at: http://som.utdallas.edu/globalmba/currentstudents/proctoredexaminfo.html.
