Accounting and Information Management

The Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Information Management provides students a broad-based education that balances conceptual with pragmatic knowledge and introduces accounting students to related fields. The program develops professionals who understand the role of information in organizations and financial markets, have the necessary skills to integrate financial analysis and information technology, and possess analytical and management skills.

Graduates seek careers in information-intensive organizations as information managers, consultants or financial analysts. Students who seek a comprehensive accounting education and plan to become Certified Public Accountants (CPA) are advised to pursue the 150 credit-hour, fast-track program in Accounting and Information Management, which earns them both undergraduate and master's degrees. Admittance into the Professional Program in Accounting program, which offers a number of advantages to highly motivated students, is also available to select students in the fast-track program.

Students who successfully complete both degrees may take the CPA examination upon completion of the 150 credit-hour requirement of the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.
